Here are a few photos from the trip. We didn't have much time to jump in and out of the vehicle due to time constraints.

Collecting some water from the Pacific Ocean. We brought back some Indian Ocean water as well Ready to leave Cape Byron on the 14th On the road from Roma to Charleville at sunset The famous Big Red, just out of Birdsville. These hardy souls were camped on top of the dune.
The start of the Simpson Desert With recent rain, the wildflowers had all bloomed. We saw just about every species of wild animal on this trip. A welcome sign. This part of the trip seemed to take forever....
Poeppel's Corner; SA, Qld and the NT Another sand dune!!!!!!! Pulled up for a break in the desert Welcome to WA!!!! Shame about the graffiti.
This is part of the famous Gunbarrel Highway. 1400kms long. Hundreds of kms of bone jarring corrugations Someone's camper that couldn't handle the corrugations. There's a note written on the front saying "Hindsight is a good thing" Len Boedell surveyed all these roads around SA, WA and the NT. It's a long way to anywhere!!!!
It's a big sky Still on the Gunbarrel. We had to stop and make some adjustments to the suspension The interior of the Patrol. This was our bedroom and dining room for 6 days This was typical of the dirt roads in WA. Smoother than bitumen roads in the Northern Rivers!!!
Beautiful colours Here we are, at Steep Point. We finally made it, beating the one way record by 64 minutes. We were headed east and we could see the rain ahead of us. We ended up on some very slippery roads during the night. This is the next morning. We drove through rain most of the night.
Because of the timing, there was nowhere we could refuel during the night. We carried almost 100 litres of diesel with us so we didn't have to wait anywhere Still on the Gunbarrel highway on the way home. Took forever. A Pajero rolled over close to the NT border. We had to assist an elderly passenger who had been thrown clear. This cost us over an hour A reminder of the need to be careful all the time out here. Help can be a long way away. In this case, there was a clinical nurse close by
The incessant pounding from the corrugations on the Gunbarrel ruined the rear shock absorbers. The vehicle was becoming skittish on bumps and we decided to replace them at Uluru The scenery was spectacular for the whole trip. Crossing one of the many salt lakes in the Simpson Desert. We beat our own record for the trip back... by 4 minutes. We hold the record for the dual crossing at 6 days, 3 hrs and 56mins. We were exhausted
